The United States Customs and Border Protection Office seized two tons of methamphetamine.

The discovery was made at the Otay Mesa commercial port in California on August 16.

The drugs were hidden in wrappings that resembled watermelons.

The shipment was being imported from Mexico in a trailer driven by a 29-year-old man.

During a secondary inspection, 1,220 packages of the drug were found.

This seizure is part of Operation Apollo, a joint effort in California and Arizona.

The operation aims to combat the entry of drugs through the southern border of the United States.

In May, the CDC reported a 3% decrease in drug overdose deaths in the country.
