A Mexican mother and her four children, all U.S. citizens, lived moments of terror when immigration agents burst into their New York home and pointed firearms at them without showing a judicial warrant, according to local media.
The agents, who did not identify themselves, were searching for Jennifer’s cousin, 33, who stopped living with the family two years ago and for whom no details have been disclosed regarding any criminal or immigration process.
The raid occurred early Thursday, November 13, while the family was sleeping, and was captured in a video Jennifer herself recorded before her phone was taken away.
The video shared on X by New York Immigration Coalition executive director Murad Awawdeh shows several agents wearing tactical gear, carrying rifles and flashlights, forcing their way into the apartment during the ICE raid in New York.

Jennifer told The City that the agents spent around half an hour pounding on doors and windows, shouting for them to open up, while her children—ages 13, 10, 6, and 2—cried in fear.
Once inside, one of the agents yelled at her: “Put your f**ing hands up, stupid,”* according to the recording the woman made before the phone was taken from her.

The mother says they dragged her by the hair and that one of the agents pointed a rifle at her 13-year-old daughter while she kept repeating, “I have my baby, I have my kids, what the hell?”
Her husband was at work at the time of the ICE raid, adding to the family’s anguish, according to Efe.
Threats and Pressure to Locate a Cousin
Illegal in NYC uses her baby and children as human shields when ICE comes into her home to deport her.
You can hear the woman in a very heavy accent say, “I have my baby.” As if that would get her out of being deported.
Deport her and all her children.

The agents were looking for Jennifer’s cousin and, according to her account, also asked whether the children were undocumented.
After hearing that all of them were born in the United States, the woman says the agents threatened to contact the Administration for Children’s Services (ACS) and deport her if she did not cooperate.
Under that pressure, Jennifer called her cousin, who agreed to surrender to immigration authorities at the apartment the following week.
Neighbors who heard the banging and shouting believed it was a robbery and called the police in terror, but when officers arrived and spoke with the ICE agents, they left without intervening.

“ICE is a rogue agency that is illegally terrorizing New Yorkers,” wrote Murad Awawdeh on X while sharing the video of the ICE raid in New York.
Organizations and civil rights experts have warned that ICE has conducted similar arrests, even in homes with U.S. citizen children.
“The family is traumatized, the children are afraid to leave their mother to go to school,” Awawdeh stated.
The leader of the New York Immigration Coalition also criticized the government’s actions, saying:
