The Golden Age of Mexican cinema not only left behind great stars and memorable films, but also stories marked by painful endings.

One of them is that of Marina Camacho, an actress who shared the screen with Flor Silvestre and Antonio Aguilar, and who years later died under violent circumstances.

Already away from the spotlight, the performer was living a quiet life when her name reappeared in headlines.

This time it was not for a film premiere, but for a crime that shook the country’s capital.

According to official reports, at least six people entered her home with the intention of stealing valuables.

Among the stolen items were works of art, firearms, mink coats, jewelry, silver items, and a car.

The robbery, however, turned into a brutal attack inside the home of the actress and her husband.

Marina suffered six stab wounds and skull fractures, while her husband sustained 18 similar injuries and severe blows to the head.

Neighbors involved in the crime

One of the most shocking elements of the Marina Camacho murder case was that two of those responsible were neighbors of the couple.

The trust between them allowed the attackers to enter the home and remain there for several minutes before overpowering them.

During the attack, the couple’s son spoke with them on the phone, unaware of what was happening inside the house.

The following day, he himself found the bodies and immediately notified authorities, which launched an investigation that lasted seven months.

Sentences after months of investigation

The investigation made it possible to identify and arrest those involved in the crime.

Two of the perpetrators received sentences of 75 years in prison, in addition to being ordered to pay more than 76,000 pesos in restitution.

Another individual, accused of hiding the stolen items, was sentenced to 32 years in prison.

The case exposed a close betrayal that forever marked the memory of those who knew the actress.

Marina Camacho’s career alongside major figures

Margarita Camacho, artistically known as Marina Camacho, was born on July 7, 1935, in Ensenada, Baja California.

She began her career at age 21 and appeared in around 30 films over a seven-year period.

Among her most remembered works is La huella del chacal, where she shared credits with Antonio Aguilar and Flor Silvestre, grandmother of Ángela Aguilar.

She also acted in productions such as Juana Gallo, starring María Félix, and El violetero, alongside Germán Valdés, closing her career with El corrido de María Pistolas, as detailed by El Heraldo de México.

The Marina Camacho murder case remains one of the tragic stories linked to Mexico’s Golden Age cinema, a reminder that behind the glamour of the screen were lives that sometimes ended in devastating circumstances.
