A tragedy cast a shadow over the AXE Ceremonia 2025, a popular national and international music festival.

This followed the collapse of a metal structure inside Parque Bicentenario, leaving at least two people dead and several others in shock.

The incident occurred around 5:00 p.m., next to the main AXE stage and directly across from the VIP restrooms, during a performance by singer Meme del Real.

According to the Secretariat for Comprehensive Risk Management and Civil Protection, the victims received prehospital care at the scene but unfortunately died while being transported to the hospital.

“These unfortunate events were the result of inadequate supervision of preventive measures by the organizers and the offices of Miguel Hidalgo Borough,” stated the agency in an official release.

In images and videos shared by attendees, two ambulances are seen arriving.

Security personnel intervened shortly afterward, cordoning off the area and asking those nearby to clear the zone.

Meanwhile, the rest of the festival continued its schedule at other stages, such as the American Eagle, featuring artists like Charly XCX, Tomorrow x Together, and Aron.

A member of the Banking and Industrial Police told Infobae Mexico that the structure’s collapse was due to strong winds in the area.

The Secretariat of Citizen Security confirmed the number of injured but, at the time, did not have detailed information about those affected.

The Attorney General’s Office of Mexico City opened an investigation to determine responsibility and assign liability.

Since the festival is a private event, both the Responsible Construction Director and the Official Civil Protection Officer hired by the organizers must answer to the authorities.

Victims identified

One of the victims was identified as Miguel Ángel Hernández, a 28-year-old passionate about music and photojournalism, who was documenting the event, according to Infobae.

Hernández was active on Instagram, where he shared moments from his personal and professional life, mostly covering concerts and music events.

His last post, five days before the tragedy, featured 17 images and videos expressing his love for his work; it now has 190 likes and dozens of farewell messages.

“Rest in peace, colleague,” one user wrote.

“I love you, Migue. I’ll hold onto that 2016 memory when The 1975 brought us together for the first time at the Pepsi Center. You’ll live on in music and photos,” another close friend commented.

“Rest in peace, my bro. You lost your life but not your path, Miki. Goodbye, bro,” read another emotional farewell from a follower.

“RIP. Let justice be served,” stated another message, echoing the public outcry following the tragedy.

His last gallery included a selfie taken in a bathroom mirror, an image now seen as a farewell by those who knew him.

Also killed was Berenice Giles Rivera, a 27-year-old photographer covering the festival for Mr. Indie along with her colleague Miguel Ángel Rojas.

On Saturday, Berenice posted an Instagram story saying: “If you see me, say hi,” not knowing it would be her final professional assignment.

Both young professionals were documenting the vibrant musical atmosphere of Ceremonia 2025—a day that ended in mourning.

The deaths of Berenice and Miguel Ángel have sparked questions about possible negligence by the event organizers.

The artistic and cultural community has expressed grief and is demanding clear answers from the authorities.

The case may mark a turning point in the regulation of large public events in Mexico City.

While investigations continue, family members, colleagues, and friends are calling for justice.

And at the same time, they honor the memory of the young people who died doing what they loved, Infobae reported.
