The act took place in front of coworkers and at least one customer, who tried to intervene but were unable to prevent the outcome.

The scene caused panic and confusion inside the restaurant.

Coworkers tried to stop the Olive Garden employee as he moved toward the fryer filled with boiling oil.

One employee suffered minor burns while attempting to help him, authorities confirmed.

Industrial fryers can reach temperatures between 350 and 375 degrees Fahrenheit, posing an extreme risk.

Emergency responders arrived quickly and were able to remove the victim from the hot oil.

Despite medical efforts, the Olive Garden employee later died due to the severity of his injuries.
