Terrifying school bus accident in North Carolina

On the morning of Tuesday, April 9, eight students were hospitalized after a terrible accident involving a school bus in the eastern part of Burke County, North Carolina.
Official reports state the incident occurred around 7:30 am.
There were nine high school students, the driver and a monitor on the bus at the time of the accident.
It appears that one of the bus’s tires on the passenger side veered off the road, according to the Daily Mail.
Bus driver faces charges

When the tire went off the road, the driver overcorrected swerving to the right and then the left.
However, he lost control and the bus ended up crashing into a ditch and landing upside down, according to officials from the Highway Patrol.
The bus driver, identified as Carol Barnes of Lenoir, faces charges for failing to maintain lane control.
It has also been reported that an investigation into the exact circumstances of the accident is currently underway.
Emergency services responded to the scene of the bus accident

Along with police, EMTs reported to the scene of the accident to assist the victims.
It is reported that all passengers on the bus, including the students, suffered injuries of varying degrees, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.
The bus driver was transported to a local medical center.
Meanwhile, the bus monitor was flown to Charlotte for further treatment.
Details about the victims

According to the Daily Mail, the students on the bus attend various schools in the Burke County school district.
They include East Burke High School, Jimmy C. Draughn High School and Hallyburton Academy.
It was reported that the students who were injured in the accident were taken to local hospitals by their parents or by rescue teams.
So far, authorities have confirmed that at least five students have been discharged.
