At least one person was killed, and 21 others were injured in a shooting that marred the end of the Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl parade in Kansas City.
Among the injured, eight had «immediate life threatening injuries,» seven had «life threatening injuries» and six suffered minor injuries.
This was confirmed by Kansas City interim fire chief Ross Grundyson at a press conference, according to EFE.

Eight children were among the 22 people shot in this incident, which had terrified fans running for shelter.
The high-profile public event, celebrating the Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl victory, was overshadowed by gun violence, leaving the city in shock and mourning.
The incident took place near Union Station, Kansas City’s central railway station, the endpoint of the Chiefs’ Super Bowl parade.
Local Police Chief Stacey Graves reported the arrest of a third person during the incident, adding to the «two armed individuals» were detained.

The person who was killed in the shooting was identified as DJ Lisa López Galván, host of Taste of Tejano, according to a Facebook post by KKFI radio.
In a statement, the station mourned the loss of a «beautiful person» and expressed their dismay at the «senseless act» that took her away from her family and the Kansas City community.
«This senseless act has taken a beautiful person from her family and this KC Community,» KKFI wrote.
«We will carry you in our hearts. Our deepest condolences to the López Galván family and to her father our dear Don Beto López Mariachi Elandariego,» they bid farewell on social media.

According to initial reports, Lisa López-Galván, a mother of two from Johnson County, was a beloved disc jockey in Kansas City.
«Very sad. Prayers for the family, especially the two children. On another note, that means the man who was bleeding out and receiving CPR in the leaked video survived,» one person commented.
«I am so sorry the evil of today’s world has taken you. God bless you and your family. Another senseless crime,» added another commenter.
«I am so sorry to hear of your passing. Though I know you now, you deserved so much better. Prayers to your family and friends and to all who knew you,» mourners posted on her Facebook page.
Chaos at Chiefs Super Bowl parade

Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas shared his personal experience during the incident, saying that he too had to run when he heard the shots.
While he praised the police presence, especially in the vicinity of the station and on rooftops, Lucas lamented the reality that «this is what happens with guns.»
«I think that’s something that all of us who are parents, who are just regular people living each day, have to decide what we wish to do about,» Lucas said.
