Mexican singer Lupillo Rivera surprised fans with the release of his autobiography Tragos Amargos, a book where he exposes his most vulnerable side.

In its pages, Rivera reveals personal and professional episodes, including his relationship with singer Belinda and the painful memories of his sister Jenni Rivera.

The book aims to show the human side of the regional Mexican music star, marked by both success and controversy.

“These are things that happened in my life. We had to talk about them because everything that was going on was very public,” Lupillo told EFE in an interview.

One of the most talked-about chapters focuses on his relationship with Belinda, with whom he had a very public romance.

Their relationship stirred controversy, especially because of the tattoo of Belinda’s face that Lupillo had inked during their time together.

“I know her fans are going to support her and say I’m crazy, that I was obsessed… it’s not that serious. Yes, I was, but not anymore,” confessed Rivera.

The book even recounts the moment Belinda invited him to stay at her house: “We slept together for the first time… That’s what happens in relationships,” he shared with Siéntese Quién Pueda on Instagram.

The Weight of Talking About Jenni Rivera

Beyond romance, Lupillo admits the hardest part to write was the chapter about Jenni Rivera.

“Talking about Jenni was one of the difficult chapters—we struggled to tell the story because you go back to those moments, but it had to be told,” he said.

Jenni, known as La Diva de la Banda, died in a plane crash in 2012, leaving behind an enormous legacy in regional Mexican music.

“Talking about my sister, who isn’t here to defend herself, I didn’t know if it was the right step. But again, it had to be told,” Lupillo explained.

Honoring the Diva’s Legacy

Rivera dedicates several pages of Tragos Amargos to Jenni, considered one of the most influential artists in her genre.

He said he wanted to be honest with Jenni’s fans, who continue to keep her memory alive.

“Jenni’s fan base is very strong, hardcore,” he said. “There are people who love my sister deeply, and I want them to always love her.”

For Lupillo, sharing these memories was both a personal catharsis and a way to honor his sister’s legacy.

A Book to Close Chapters in Lupillo Rivera’s Life

With Tragos Amargos, the singer seeks to reconcile with his past and give his version of the stories that once fueled public debate.

“These are experiences I lived, and simply, those who believe me will believe me, and those who don’t, won’t,” he reflected.

The book spans from his childhood to the present, showing a more intimate and sincere Lupillo.
