Nacho Cano, theater producer, musician, and former member of Mecano, has been arrested.
The 61-year-old producer was detained for allegedly hiring immigrants in an irregular situation.
Cadena Ser broke the news, which was confirmed by EL MUNDO.
The victims are Mexican workers brought to Spain to prepare for the premiere of «Malinche» in Mexico.
Details of Nacho Cano’s Arrest
The show «Malinche» has been performed in Madrid since 2022, with more than 500 performances.
The arrest took place on Tuesday morning in the Centro district of Madrid.
Nacho Cano is accused of a crime against workers’ rights.
He is also accused of facilitating illegal immigration in the hiring of employees for «Malinche.»
After his arrest, Cano was taken to the Centro police station.
There, he gave a statement to the officers and was released with precautionary measures.

The National Police began the investigation after receiving several complaints from Mexican employees.
The complainants were in Spain preparing for the musical’s premiere in Mexico without being formally employed.

Cadena SER reported that one of the employees warned Cano weeks ago about the breach of agreement.
In December, Cano presented a scholarship program at the Mexican Embassy in Spain.
The program aimed to train Mexican students in Spain for the musical «Malinche.»
The presentation was led by the Mexican ambassador to Spain, Quirino Ordaz, and his wife.
Also participating in the event were Ximena Caraza, director of Fundación Casa de México, and Nacho Cano.
«Malinche» premiered in September 2022 at Ifema after nearly 12 years of work. The musical tells the story of the Nahua indigenous woman Malinche and the Spaniard Hernán Cortés.
The show includes romance, drama, catchy songs, and the controversial theme of the conquest of America.
Nacho Cano now faces a judicial process for the charges against him.
