- Separation After 14 Years
The news of the divorce between Angélica Vale and Otto Padrón surprised the entertainment world this weekend. After 14 years of marriage, a source close to People en Español confirmed that the Mexican actress “is doing well” and is facing this new stage with calm.
The couple, considered for years one of the most solid in Latino entertainment, reportedly decided to separate discreetly.
While media attention focuses on the star of La fea más bella, many are now asking who the man is who shared her life for more than a decade.
Otto Padrón, born in Cuba, emigrated to the United States at the age of 8 with his family to escape the communist regime. Since then, his life story has been a blend of military discipline, passion for media, and commitment to public service.
From Soldier to Television Executive

Television was part of his life from an early age, as his father worked as a transmission engineer. That influence would shape his future career—though he first took a very different path: the military.
During his youth, Padrón enlisted in the U.S. Army, where he currently holds the rank of colonel in the U.S. Army Reserve, with more than four decades of combined service.

He even served in the Iraq War, an experience that, by his own account, profoundly changed his outlook on life. “I wanted to be a pilot, I used to watch your mom on TV in Ana del aire, and I dreamed of flying her plane,” he once told Angélica Vale, recalling that his childhood crush was Angélica María, the actress’s mother.
After leaving active duty, Padrón earned degrees in Broadcast Communications and Economics from the University of Miami, and his career shifted toward media.
Success at Univision and Executive Leadership
Otto Padrón worked at Univision for 16 years, where he became senior vice president of programming. He was recognized for driving strategies that transformed the way Hispanic television produced and promoted content. “We started changing how promotion and programming were done; we learned a lot through that process,” he said in an interview with PRODU.
After leaving Univision, he became president and CEO of Maruelo Media, a company specializing in multimedia content and advertising.
He currently serves as chief operating officer at Get After It Media, a company focused on distributing digital and sports media.
Padrón has kept a private profile outside the spotlight, though he occasionally shares family moments and personal reflections on social media. His Instagram account has nearly 40,000 followers, and his last post, in August 2023, was a birthday message for his son Daniel on his ninth birthday.

So far, neither has made public statements about the divorce process. However, people close to them say they continue to maintain a cordial relationship focused on the well-being of their children.
Otto Padrón’s future appears to remain in the media industry, where he has built a solid and respected career.
His story reflects that of a man who, from his Cuban roots, built a life shaped by military discipline, business success, and a passion for communication, according to People en Español.
